Written for the moment fear looks larger than God — and Truth quietly proves otherwise.
IF you are challenged to greater demands
IF you are segued to a purpose outside of your plans
Remember the story of Joseph or Daniel again
How fear can look like a modern-day debt-prison or lion’s den
Last summer, I thought the battle was finally won
With the ambition to move ahead, finding it only just begun
An invisible enemy was set against me in my home
Right in the sanctuary of peace where joy is known
But the war against Truth tossed a wrench in my engine
I couldn’t move ahead and was soon plagued with apprehension
Forced into my study, I wondered “God, what about you am I missing?”
Layer after layer, fear was uncovered in my thinking
“You can’t move ahead in Love where fear sits at the wheel”
This thought came to me, now I’m seeing the bigger ordeal
Truth isn’t benign, it doesn’t idly lay dormant like a badge to wear
Truth searches deep and reveals the hidden scares
Like a movie-projector, the light exposes the inner-fear in the human scene
It becomes self-seen, destroyed, as we admit purity instead of the obscene
Truth is ever-active like a remedy that searches the heart of man
The motives, thoughts, deeds; what’s beneath them – our so-called “plans”
And the valley of the shadow of death?
The place where God preserves us amid the tribulation we face?
This is Truth doing its work to expose the hidden thought(s) to see
After all, we shall ‘know the Truth’ and ‘the Truth sets us free
But, why do we experience the torment, the anguish, like stepping on landmines?
Jesus didn’t say we wouldn’t be afflicted, he said we would be saved by grace
Our job is to turn our mind again to the One power, One Life, God’s Loving face
To return to the reflection and remember only He is present in His perfect day
If we admit one quality of His that we know is present right now
Perhaps it is peace, gentleness, kindness, patience, love, any fruit you can find
Admitting one is admitting all, because He is not partial, but wholeness divine!
Cling to those qualities like a life-vest as the waves crash in body and mind
As the human sense seems to be drowning, be it finances, health, Life’s necessities
If you open the door to His perfecting presence, light will remove the darkened strife
If you cast all the burden on Him and rest on the surface of His qualities
Holding on to that Life-preserver, the fact that He is the source and we reflect His Life!
You’ve done all you are required to do as the child of God, the Most High!
He never asked you to figure out the way or struggle around the problem-sense
That’s the quicksand that prolonged the most terrifying symptoms of dissonance
He asks you to admit Him, trust not in your understanding, cast the burden aside
It is the good fight, and I’m right beside you as you win the crown of glory
For the record, let’s just delete the idea you were born and have a human history
Jesus said to leave all and follow him, yeah, he meant that, too
Now is the moment of salvation, right now, God is ready to be God to you!
